Hi, My name is Shigeyuki from Japan and I studied at ELS
for 4 months. When I got to ELS for the first time, I was
so worried about studying at a new place, but all of the
teachers and other students were friendly, so I could adopt
myself to school. All of the classes were helpful, fun and
it was easy to improve. When I had some questions, the teachers
were trying to help me as much as they could, so I could
solve those questions. In addition, ELS has some activities
and they are a good chance to become friendly with other
students. The thing I can say is ELS is a great place to
study English and have new friends. I would say thank you
so much to ELS because they gave me some great experiences
in my life. I hope you will have a great time at ELS.
My name is Eriko Shimazu. I am from Japan. When I came here
I was in level 5; now I am in level 9. Now I am very independent,
I can express mysel. I have learned lots of information
from people from other countries. I am very happy with the
classes; my teachers make sure our grammar is clear. In
Japan, I learned English, now I know English. The classes
are serious, fun, and exciting.
The process of writing a research paper was a hardest part
of life in the ELS, but it really helped me to step up to
the college level and to be ready for the college study
life. - Hikari Kurokawa
English is a common and worldwide language like “Music.”
By using English we can share several experiences with each
other. Teachers in this ELS center are essential for me
to become an English speaker. Not only in class but also
after school, they are willing to teach us English. Because
the teachers give us several topics to discuss in class,
I could get interested in American and other countries'
culture, education and religion. And also, this ELS center
provides us with lots of fun events including apple picking,
watching basketball and baseball, ski and snow boarding
and shopping and so on. This ELS center is located in Case
Western Reverse University, therefore we have many academic
opportunities here. In my case, I belong to a laboratory
as a voluntary researcher. I am very lucky to be with teachers
here. Good luck for your English and experience! - Hiroki

Since
I came to ELS San Rafael, my English skills have improved
extremely. It is obvious that my TOEFL score has improved,
I can understand any TV shows and any news magazines, and
it has become easier to communicate in English. I bet I
could make it just fine, even on my own, in the United States
now. The U.S. is a kind of diverse country. ELS San Rafael
is located at the university campus. Therefore, I made many
American friends that I hung out with a lot. In addition,
there are many people from many countries in ELS. For example,
my friends in ELS are from Asia, Europe, Africa, Middle
East, South America, and North America. Even though it was
occasionally hard to understand some different cultures,
I have acquired a lot of elements. Living in another country
is hard sometimes. However, if you try to study hard, you
can improve your English skills, experience other cultures,
assimilate diversities, and make many friends. ELS San Rafael
can provide you with those wonderful opportunities. - Hiroyuki

I didn't expect that the life in Las Vegas was going to
be nice like this. Before I came to ELS, I lived in Washington.
I took ESL classes and some academic classes in college.
Actually, I was supposed to enroll in college in Las Vegas
without ELS because I had already taken English classes
for over a year. However, I was afraid of my low English
skills and a new environment. Therefore, I decided to attend
ELS for a couple of months before attending my new college.
My choice was correct. I have met many friends and teachers
who are from different countries than me. I could know the
cultural differences about them. At ELS, I got thousands
of tips for writing and for grammar. The teachers are friendly
and helpful and they have tons of knowledge. Whenever I
had questions, they taught me until I understood. They helped
me a lot to brush up on my English skills. Also, ELS has
activities once in a while which are really good opportunities
to get closer with friends. I went to Hoover Dam, which
is the nation's biggest dam. I would like to add one more
thing before ending... the director of ELS Las Vegas is
crazy funny.!! I remember the first day I met him because
his joking was so amazing!! He released my nervous feeling.
Like him, the staff helps us not only learning english,
but also other things that we need help with. Therefore,
I recommend you to learn here!! I'm sure you will have a
great time at ELS Las Vegas!!!!! - Mai, Japan

Thank you for everything! San Rafael is a very good, safe
place. We can go to downtown San Rafael easily from ELS.
It is easy to get to San Francisco from downtown San Rafael.
People here are so kind and gentle. The school is very comfortable.
We can go to the cafeteria, the gym, and the library. We
can talk with students of Dominican University. ELS San
Rafael teachers and staff are so kind. I like them very
much. My host mother is also very kind. I like her a lot! -

ELS San Rafael, this is the place to challenge and improve
your English. You’ll experience more than you expect when
thinking about studying abroad. First, there is a nice environment
at ELS San Rafael. This is the California life you can imagine
and dream about. The weather is always sunny and everywhere
it’ green and gorgeous. In addition, I liked ELS San Rafael
because of all the office staff and teachers. I don’t know
how many times the office staff took care of me kindly.
Also, the teachers are very effective and efficient. They
don’t give up until you totally understand. I had so much
fun and a good experience. I really appreciate it! - Takeshi
