Pacific Univesity - Human Resource Development (人材開発学)
This major provides the student with
the opportunity to study the primary functions of human resource
management with a strong emphasis on the development of human
potential in organizations in both the private and public
sectors. It is a program which provides the student with a
foundation built on the psycho-social model of effective human
behavior.
Program Goals and Objectives
Goal 1: Students should acquire knowledge in the following
areas in order to perform effectively as HRD professionals:
Describe the human life cycle in the context of career development.
Discuss how adults learn.
Describe the personal, familial, and social meanings of work.
Describe the principles of diversity.
Describe the principles of group behavior, including the role
of teams in the workplace and principles of fostering teamwork.
Describe the principles of effective interpersonal communication.
Describe how the HRD function fits into organizations.
Describe methods of quantitative and qualitative analysis.
Describe principles of organizational development and change.
Goal 2: Students will be able to apply training and development
methods to improve individual and organizational effectiveness by:
Conduct effective training programs using a variety of methods
Assessing the need for training and career/organizational development
Designing training and development programs that meet identified
needs
Conducting effective training programs
Evaluating the effectiveness of training programs, using computer
systems and other tools.
