Scholarship
Undergraduate: CLU awards academic scholarships ranging from
$5,000 to $17,000 based on a student’s complete application
for admission. The decision on the scholarship amount is made
at the time of admission and the student is notified along
with the admission decision. The student’s academic record
is the primary factor which may include: GPA (no minimum required),
Letters of Recommendation and Test Scores (optional for international
students). Students can retain the scholarship from year to
year as long as they maintain an annual GPA of 3.0 / 4.0 as
CLU students.

CLU’s beautiful 91-hectare campus is only 30 minutes from
the Pacific Ocean and less than one hour’s drive from the
career and cultural opportunities of Los Angeles.
California Lutheran University is consistently ranked
by U.S. News & World Report as a Top Tier university
in the Western United States. CLU is the perfect size
to provide a wide array of academic and professional opportunities
under the guidance of the university’s distinguished and
highly-qualified faculty. The average class size is 20
students. All classes are taught by professors (not teaching
assistants), and professors also serve as academic advisors
to guide students through their education at California
Lutheran.

Housing
The city of Thousand Oaks is ranked by the FBI as one

safe and desirable, but somewhat expensive community.

My Name is Elizabeth, and I have been an instructor at ELS
Thousand Oaks since August 2009. Learning about different
cultures is a passion of mine. I have studied, taught English,
worked, and traveled in many parts of the world. I love going
to work at ELS and I love my students. I teach them English
and about the culture of the United State and they teach me
about their cultures. For me, this is the best job in the
